Abstract

Teresa Mañé Miravent (Cubelles, 1865–Perpignan, 1939) saw in pedagogy and education a dynamic and transformative process, capable of breaking the barriers imposed by society and paving the path for personal and collective emancipation. Our aim in this article, covering the interlude between the 19th and 20th centuries, is to observe and analyse the significance and transnationalization of Mañe’s ideas, showing how the sea emerged as a key element in her ideological evolution and transformation, and as something necessary to understand her life trajectory. To do so, we examine how she became a central figure and discuss her significance during two periods of La Revista Blanca (1898–1905 and 1923–1939). She was director of La Revista Blanca, which was a major means of editorial exchange among various places in the world, especially the Mediterranean area and the Atlantic world.
